Nutritional Therapists

What is a Registered Nutritional Therapist?

Trish Leclair is a Natural Health and Nutritional Specialist. She is a Registered
Nutritional Therapist, with a diploma in holistic nutrition and is certified in
various other modalities.  She uses various tools to determine the root causes of
a person's symptoms. Click
here to read her bio.  Due to Trish’s ability to
quickly assess a person’s health situation by her natural intuitive instincts, she is
able to help you achieve “your optimal health”. She does this by combining a
knowledge of nutrition, assessment of symptoms, an understanding of how
emotions can affect our health, an understanding of the functions of the body
and organs, knowledge of how our muscles are connected to our organ
function, and her natural understanding of posture and body language. In other
words, Trish has a keen ability to quickly assess a person’s health situation and
"connect all the dots” to help educate the client on what may be “potential
causes” of their symptoms.

Please note that Trish does NOT treat symptoms or conditions. Her focus is to
help a client figure out the possible “root causes”, which are also “stressors” on
the body. By removing these “stressors” and then supporting the functions and
organs of the body with diet, herbs and supplements, the body has the ability to
heal itself.

A Registered Nutritional Therapist has a very different focus than a typical
"certified nutritionist" who tends to focus on creating meal plans and coaching
people for weight loss.  Here is a brief description from the
website of Patrick
Holford, author of many great books:

“Nutritional therapists are trained to look for the potential underlying
causes of health problems, using a combination of clinical skills and, where
necessary, biochemical tests. They then work with each client to produce
a tailor-made program to address specific issues and help you reach your
health goals. This could be clearer skin, more energy, improved digestion
or weight loss. Nutritional therapy can also help more complex issues such
as overcoming infertility, alleviating migraines or supporting a particular
    medical condition.”

The Nutritional Therapy Council in the UK adds:
"They often work with clients who have chronic health problems that
conventional medicine sometimes finds difficult to treat. These include
allergies, digestive and bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances, fatigue,
depression or stress, auto-immune conditions, migraine and skin disorders.
Increasingly, parents with an overweight child and/or a child with learning
and behavioural difficulties may seek to support their child with nutritional
    therapy."

assess imbalances and to determine the “right diet” for your unique
biochemistry. Here are some of the tools she uses:
    - Food Sensitivity and Allergy testing
    - Metabolic Typing
    - Live and Dry Blood Analysis
    - Saliva Hormone Testing

Why combine supplements, herbs and diet to heal the body?

Although Trish is trained in using herbs and supplements, that is not her main
focus.  Herbs and supplements are used for therapeutic purposes to help
support the organs and functions of the body. While the body is regaining its
ability to detoxify and function effectively, dietary approaches are used as long
term solutions for preventative health.

Herbs have been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes and for
treating various symptoms and conditions. If you search the Internet and look
for herbs for various conditions, you will find a huge resource of information
and research to back it up. You will also notice that most herbs have anti-
microbial properties and blood sugar regulating properties. That means that by
simply adding herbs and spices to your daily cooking, you will be helping to
support the natural functions of your organs.

One of Trish’s goals is to create awareness about the healing powers of nature.
Fresh, organic plant foods (fruits and vegetables) and herbs have many healing
properties. Read Trish's
“Top 20 List” for daily lifestyle tips in helping you
achieve optimal health.

Why support the functions of the body?

By having a client fill out an online questionnaire based on your symptoms,
Trish is able to determine which “body systems” and organs need the most
support. This is important to know because there are various approaches that
need to be taken depending on which organs need the most support. A link to
the Body Systems Pages appears on the left menu bar of  the website pages and
there are direct links to different body systems on the right side of most pages
of this website.

You are unique so you need to be treated that way!

Due to the fact that each person is biochemically unique, Trish needs to use the
tools to help her determine the right approach to take with each person. There is
no “one size fits all”!

....and yes, emotional healing is part of the healing process....

One of the most important things to consider as part of the healing process is
“emotional healing”. We have meridians that are the energy circuits for each
organ. In acupuncture, needles are used to help improve the flow of energy to
these organs. We can also improve the function of our organs by releasing toxic
and negative emotions. One of the things that Trish recommends are for a
person to have positive affirmations in their homes and place of work. This
helps to keep a person in a positive mind frame. Click
here to see which
emotions are connected to the function of our organs.
